- Nurses in general practice are increasingly taking on advanced roles. These roles involve the assessment, treatment and management of minor illness. Other aspects of the role are chronic disease management, particularly management and monitoring of diabetes, hypertension, and respiratory disease, primary and secondary CHD prevention, stroke and transient ischaemic attacks. This book is intended as a handbook for experienced advanced nurses, and to help nurses either new to the role or in training for it. The style of the book is demonstrated more clearly in the attached sample chapter but it aims to be a key information source with clinical alerts throughout to highlight areas of concern in diagnosis, management or treatment.
