It tells the story of Zhao Shuo, the son of the loyal minister Zhao Dun of the Jin State during the Spring and Autumn Period, who framed by the treacherous minister Tu Hancheng, and his family was massacred. The only remaining orphan, Zhao Wu, avenged his family with the help loyal ministers such as Cheng Ying. The play has distinctive features in shaping the characters. A group of positive characters in the play have the noble qualities of not fearing the, being righteous and courageous, and facing death as if it were returning home. Their personalities are highlighted through the plot display and sharp conflicts, which are true and touching.
